The story of Caeli began in 1975 when our founder, Mrs Pichaya Suebjaklap, returned to Bangkok after completing her studies at Paris-Sorbonne University. The jewellery business was inspired by Mrs Pichaya’s father’s vision. Through sheer hard work, determination and moral fortitude, Mrs Pichaya’s father emerged from a Dickensian childhood to become a leading Chinese businessman in Bangkok. In 1972, Mrs Pichaya’s father opened the first diamond jewellery boutique, City Bazaar as one of the first luxury jewellery boutiques in Bangkok located at the bustling Rachaprasong Intersection at what is now the site of Gaysorn Plaza. When Mrs Pichaya returned to Thailand in 1975, Mrs Pichaya’s father recognised her dedication and stylistic flair and entrusted her with the diamond jewellery business. During the day, Mrs Pichaya dedicated herself to serving her customers at the boutique and during the weekends she attended diamond specialist courses at the Gemological Institute of America (“GIA”). Over time, Mrs Pichaya mastered the art and science of diamonds. In 1988, Mrs Pichaya opened another boutique, City Gems, across the street at Amarin Plaza to further her father’s legacy and to build upon her passion for helping her customers to select the right diamond for the right occasion. After CentralWorld opened in 2007, Mrs Pichaya decided to upgrade the customer experience by relocating her business to this new state-of-art shopping complex. To celebrate over three decades of dedicated customer service, Mrs Pichaya rebranded her boutique to CAELI, the Latin word meaning “Vault of Heaven”. Today, CAELI carries over 500 diamond, gemstone, and pearl high-end jewellery pieces and produces one-of-a-kind pieces according to the wishes of our customers. Over the past three decades, Mrs Pichaya’s dedication to product quality, excellence in design and craftsmanship, and sincere attention and commitment to every single customer has helped CAELI to become one of the most trusted jewellery boutiques in Bangkok, not only for our Thai customers but also for our customers from around the world.
