Founded in 1926 by Marcel Schmittgall, the eponymous Maison has expressed its jewellery expertise for cultured pearls for almost a century. It is during a trip to Japan that Marcel Schmittgall decides to dedicate all his efforts to the Akoya pearl, famous for its purity and its lustre. In 1985, Claude Martinon takes over the Maison and extends his passion to the China freshwater pearl and the renowned Tahiti pearl, so that every woman can find the jewel that suits her best. The Maison thus begins exploring Asia and Polynesia in search of the most beautiful pearls, with respect to the quality and preservation of this natural jewel. Established in the heart of Paris, the historical capital of French jewellery, Schmittgall offers a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity of an age-old gem, symbol of femininity. Under the aegis of Gaëtan Pinot since 2002, Schmittgall has taken a dynamic approach, ceaselessly searching for innovation. Driven by a spirit of entrepreneurship, he turned to jewellery in order to take up new challenges in a demanding sector. With a passion for the Pearl, he seeks the exceptional, carefully choosing pearls for their quality and that of the finishes. Over the years, Gaëtan Pinot has constantly embellished women with this unique, luminous gem. Driven by an ambitious spirit, he wants the Maison to go global in order to share its pearl culture all around the world. To achieve this goal, he surrounded himself with a number of teams united by the same passion: "the pearly culture". Paying particular attention to the quality of each creation, they do most of the work in-house, from the design to the selection of the Pearl and to the finish of the jewel. In line with the latest trends, the Maison’s collections offers a wide variety of products in order to serve women’s desires throughout their lives. Produced in close collaboration with designers, the creations show the influence of fashion in the various product lines. Determined and faithful to his strategy, Gaëtan Pinot furthers the development of Schmittgall to perpetuate his vision of French-style luxury.
